RWE Generation's Eemshaven power plant is the largest coal and biomass power plant in the Netherlands. Covered conveyor belts ensure dust-free transport of the coal from ships to the power plant or the storage yard.
A 1400 mm wide conveyor belt at a Spanish port terminal had such bad mistracking that the system failed regularly. The tracker rollers that the customer had fitted only resolved the problem for a short period of time. The materials that stuck to the belt repeatedly blocked the tracker roller soon after startup.
A factory owned by the largest steel producer in the world struggled with mistracking problems. These problems occurred with both a short and a high-speed conveyor belt. The 1600 mm wide belt has a length of just 11 metres and travels at a speed of up to 5 m/s.
The conveyor belt for 0-200 mm chromium ore at one of the world's largest stainless steel producers was causing many problems. A 1400 mm wide mobile conveyor belt, which is loaded at four points, failed regularly because of the load carrying strand mistracking. This unplanned conveyor belt system downtime caused huge production problems.
